(No) Guitar and Pen Friday
Sitting in a cage(office) I can write lyrics all day...there is just one thing missing.
No Guitar
All of these words, in me
Flitting like bird, from me
But I’m stuck in this cage
My heart on this page
And I’ve got no guitar
Why did you leave me?
I need you to feed me
A bee stuck in a jar
No near or no far
I’ve got no guitar, no guitar
No guitar, no guitar
How did I get to this hell?
No guitar, no guitar
Words in a bottomless well
All of these dreams, in me
None of it seems, to me
Unrealistic
Border sadistic
And I’ve got no guitar
Why can’t you just stay with me?
I need you to play with me
But I’m stuck in this place
No chance of escape
I’ve got no guitar, no guitar
No guitar, no guitar
How did I get to this hell?
No guitar, no guitar
Words in a bottomless well

A Problem With Pearl
I wrote this song for my little pink tornado. My wife came in one day with "that look" on her face. Of course Pearl is Grace. Now let's get one thing PERFECTLY clear. I am NOT wrapped around my daughter's little finger...but it's so hard for me to get mad at her sometimes because she is so adorable. I literally have to leave the room sometimes, even after she has destroyed her room, because I am laughing. Anyway, this is a song for my girls. A Problem With Pearl
She said
We have a problem here
Please come near
She called
Needing a helping hand
I know
There aren’t words to say
Anyway
I tried
To chill things out
This time it has nothing to do with me
The issue lies in some other place
It seems we have a problem with Pearl
You can see it written all over her face
Pearl won’t you listen?
Pearl why don’t you care?
You’ve gotta stop throwing everything
Up into the air

An old friend sent me this...at first I thought it was going to be some cheesy high school "drama" (I hate that word because I am an arrogant actor) but I kept watching and it brought me to tears. Aren't we all that girl?
Dig the audience response. I wish I went to this church.
